Gears Of War 2 – Its Offical Its coming and there’s a trailer

Marcus Fenix is back fighting the locusts.
Its not often I will blog randomly about my 360 or infact Microsoft’s awesome console but today I went to xbox.com and found that Gears Of War 2 has been announced and there is a trailer (I cant get it to work, sort your flash out Epic). Head on over to www.xbox.com for more info.

Here is how the news was broken (source, xbox site of course)

Providing a dramatic close to Microsoft’s 2008 Game Developers Conference keynote address, lead designer Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games announced that the heroic saga of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad will continue exclusively on Xbox 360 this fall with

This highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster Gears of War delves deeper into humanity’s struggle for survival against the nightmarish Locust Horde, and takes the high-definition visuals to a whole new level.

“To our team the original game was just a tease, the appetizer to the Gears of War characters and new style of gameplay. We were so amped to get to the next chapter, and dig deeper into the universe of this franchise,” said Bleszinski. “Gears of War 2 is an even bigger, better, and more badass experience than the first game, and we can’t wait to get it in the hands of eager gamers this November.”

Game Features
Gears of War 2 continues the story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad, locked in an increasingly desperate battle against the nightmarish Locust Horde for the survival of humanity. Gears of War 2 is an larger-than-life saga of survival, loss, and retribution.

Gears of War 2 is developed by Epic Games for Microsoft Game Studios and joins a growing list of must-have Xbox 360 exclusives. Look for Gears of War 2 when it storms onto retail shelves this November.

Carlsberg don’t do hosting, but if they did it would be UK Web Hosting

Filed under: Web — Steve @ 2:42 am

Its true what they say it is important to find a good hosting company and after 5 years I have found a bloody blinding one. UK Web Hosting is the way forward.

After being with Media Temple and upset with their lack of support I moved to a UK based company and how bloody wonderful it was. 24 / 7 online chat facilities to help you with any problems (and trust me, like any host change you run into a few of these). These boys really look after you and they are bloody reasonably priced for a VPS.

Good work  UK Web Hosting I am so impressed.

In the making: My NLP Diary

My NLP diary is a simple WordPress Blog site with a custom made directory attached to it. The site will follow the same kind of structure as that of the Candlebox model I am currently working on.

The design is based on blue and greens as these according to the NHS Mental Health Trusts are the most therapeutic (Trust me I know, I was in the business for  years). I am sure the pre design will require rejigging but I am liking the early design and it will soon be with the client for approval.

I predict this to be ready by April / May time but it could carry over  due the scale of the project.

Anyway you can visit the development blog at www.xboxliveracingleagues.com.

Flash – About 4 months on

Filed under: Web — Steve @ 1:29 am

Its fair to say since my last post on learning flash I have not really done a lot. In fact I have been so stacked its been at the back of my mind. That s until Craig sent me a link at work to Game tutorials and thought I would have a look and read. Good tutorial Game Sheep, love it.

Ok a look and read turned into download the source and play with it. So after a couple hours swearing at my lap top I manage to change the original game a bit so it was not a fixed track on one screen.

I edited the Actionscript so the world would move thus allowing me to make a bigger track. So there we have it stage one complete. Now only another 38 and thats it. Facebook plugin coming up once I master PHP and MYSQL’s integration with Flash and then you will all soon be having a mini friends league table of who has the fastest time.

I have probably revealed my secret plans there so if someone nicks the idea and uses it just credit me with a link, I dont care. Its just a bit of fun and by the time I finish this and learn fbml I will be 96.

Happy Days.

Here is early racing car thing anyway.

Here and now

Well, again as it seems to be with every post of mine “Its been a long time”. So what have I been up to at whats on the cards.

Well its been interesting, Christmas has come and gone, New Year and every god damn manner of flu / cold I can think of but I am back in the game. Projects have been stacking up recently and I am in a word stacked. As my skills as a programmer / designer progress it seems every one wants a bit of Steve and my personal projects have taken a major back seat (shame!). So whats on the cards?.

Candlebox – Is a website with a wordpress blog attached and online directory for the world of candles. It is making great progress and is about 85% complete.

Candlebox - In the making

My NLP Diary – Another web project very similar to Candlebox which I am looking forward to designing (Well I have started it). I have to say that I have been inspired by one of employers clients www.mynoggin.co.uk who seem to have grasped the concept of user friendly, good looking website.

Xbox Live Racing Leagues – How I got this domain name is beyond me but this is my personal project that I cant wait to kick start. After doing a massive amount of research into the gamertags API around and improving my XML / XSLT knowledge its time to come up with something special. Still need a logo, and I have designed about 300 and hate them all. Still done a nice vector steering wheel.

Other Projects – Showbiz Spy Mark 4 will begin progress soon shortly followed by ENL online photo database. After that I have a bathroom shop and a construction business.
