Loving Facebook’s Graffiti App

Filed under: Web, Other — Clarkey @ 10:55 pm

I must admit I do like using facebook and it’s reach in terms of audience is incredible. The marketing potential is massive as there is over 100 million users now on it. But all that aside I just go on it mainly to arse about, and chat to friends not as a sales tool.

I have recently (well, say recently) discovered the Graffiti Application which has to be one of the best apps around. Nothing breaks up my evening programming or designing more than going old school with one brush and an opacity setting. No fills, no stupid Linear Grads just old school painting.

I am no expert like some of the artists around there who must have some extreme on there hands but here is some of my creations. I am trying to move away from cartoon characters and do more serious drawings, but christ it is hard. (more…)

Nascar 09 DDS Skins website kind of launched and in the making

Filed under: Web, Gaming, XBOX 360, In the making — Clarkey @ 4:14 pm

With the advent of Nascar 09 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation and its ability to create Custom Car Skins I thought I would develop on an online skin sharing site. It is still being built but there is a very crude holding page there at the moment. If anyone is interested it is www.nascar09skins.com

Should be live by the end of the month along with 3 other projects.

EA joining the sharing revolution

Filed under: Design, Gaming, XBOX 360 — Clarkey @ 7:50 pm

After the success of Forza Motorsport’s Custom car design option in the game EA has decided its time to jump on board. While its true to say that anyone who is use to doing custom skins for online gaming Forza was very powerful but a pig to work with in terms of using an xbox controller to do your work. In equivalent terms it would be like doing a design in Fireworks or Photoshop with a mouse that only went up and left, long winded and bloody annoying after a while.

EA following Nascar 08 (which to be fair was alright but its custom skins where god awful) have released a whole new paint booth feature which allows users to download a Photoshop or PNG template and design there own cars and then upload them via EA’s website for use online. Great idea, and hopefully others will follow.

Expect to see websites for skins popping up everywhere including one I am going to write (and unlike xbox league online it will get finished). Just got to buy the domain name now.

If you are intrested you can download the templates from EA’s Nascar 09 Page. I will post a basic PNG template for Nascar 09 soon so all your Fireworks users dont have to do all the transpaerency rubbish.

In the making:R&G Fencing, Basingstoke based Fencing company

I was recently approached to do a website for a local fencing company in Basingstoke, Hampshire. The site had to be clean but have clear call to actions promoting various services.

As well as this the site also had to have a gallery of the companies work and client testimonials. The design is very simple but lends it self to the type of industry. The earthy feel to the website compliments the blue logo and the client is very happy with the way the site works.

The site is planned to be launched at the end of June.

A preivew of R&G fencing can be viewed here.
